Best school ever. Worked there forever. Best teachers, directors, owner, all staff. Never will you find a more loving, caring school. Children always come first. Moved out of state and will never work in another preschool because there is no place like Wooden Shoe!!!

My son has been attending for just over a year after being on a waiting list. What a difference from Kindercare! We like the teachers, the school is very accommodating of special diets and the music, gym and art programs cannot be beat.

The Wooden Shoe Staff just can't be beat! My husband went to Iraq while my son was there, and the caring and concern for both my son and myself was amazing! If you have a chance to take your child, do, he is more than ready to begin kindergarten this year, thanks to all the learning at this day care!!!!

What a wonderful happy place. The staff has been there forever, and are always advancing their education .They have Indoor pools, a gymnasium, cooking classes and lots of academic education. My children were more than ready for kindergarten and the years that followed because of the Wooden Shoe. Socially and academically they were ready to learn more in school. My children started when they were 1 year old all the way through elementary school. The owner/director was always on site. We loved her, so super nice and wanted the best for the kids like they were her own. She is highly educated in early childhood education.

Love this place. My son is learning, making friends, and having a great time. Very accommodating. Tons of art projects that I bring home each week and swimming lessons included. Great staff, always willing to hear you out and share anything that happens throughout the day.

My daughter has been attending Wooden Shoe since she was 1 year old- and still continues there for before/after care and summer program.
After researching MANY of the surrounding care options- trying the Anchor in Arvada and a day home I found " The Shoe". What first caught my attention were the ladies caring for the age 1 group at that time. I am embarrassed to admit I have now forgotten their names (Bea?) --- but the fact that they had been there 25-30 years plus showed me that they knew what they were doing --- and worked in a place that couldn't be "that bad" in my mind to stick around for so long. My initial impression continued on through to the afternoon cargivers-- young women/men who had been students at Wooden Shoe and were now working there part-time- some while pursuing their early childhood or education degree.
They are non chain and family run--- and embrace your children as their children. They have a pool, food my daughter still talks about ---she misses their spaghetti- offer mom and dad night's out, and have THE BEST concerts ever. How those ladies ever taught my daughter to sing and perform love potion number 9 at the age of 4 is beyond me--- I so miss these concerts, I have not yet seen one come close at her public school and she is going into grade 3. She excels in her behaviour and at school - I cannot help but think it was from all the hard work and devotion of the team at the Wooden Shoe.
My only regret is that we did not take them up on their offer of private Kindergarten- we had no need to rush into public school thought her experience there was fine- but by the time you pay before/ after school care AND fulltime kindergarten it would have been less hassle and more personal attention for Tori.
Plus parents --- they have not had ONE snow day since Tori has been there- so for those of us whom have to get to work - think about those days when school is cancelled or closed!

After visiting a few places closer to our home in Denver, we knew this would be a great place for our son as soon as we walked in. WONDERFUL and long tenured staff, family ran business, pool and a gym! Our experience was very positive and our son truly enjoyed his time at the Wooden Shoe. I will never forget some of the staff members that took the time to help us transition into leaving our son for the first time as it was hard on all of us. Although we have our son in a pre-k program at a school closer to home with excellent staff as well, he still asks if he can go say hello to some of the staff at the Wooden Shoe. They have left a very nice impression on all of us!

My children have been going to Wooden Shoe for five years from toddler classes, through potty training, pre-school and my oldest attended kindergarten there.
This place is amazing. A caring, devoted staff who bend over backwards to educate my children and accommodate my daughter's special medical needs. The place has been run by the same family since they opened over thirty years ago. Lots of activities for the "big kids" in the before and after school and vacation programs including field trips, picnics in the park, skating, museums, crafts. We couldn't be happier with the staff and facilities.
A gymnasium and pool onsite and swimming lessons when age appropriate, amazing pre-school and kindergarten teachers. My daughter came out of kindergarten reading on almost a second grade level and is now excelling at Jefferson Academy in 1st grade.

After poor experiences at other local daycares, I am proud to say that my two daughters go to the Wooden Shoe. Both are well ahead of their peers academically, socially and emotionally due to the amazing program at the Wooden Shoe. Some of the features that we are impressed with is the swimming, music, spanish and gym programs which are provided at no extra charge. The field trips are fantastic as well as the environment which seeks to educate the whole child through "the best of the best" techniques from Montessori, Waldorf, direct instruction, and other preschool models out there. The staff are terrific with understanding vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or other dietary needs of the kids.
